Our Story
You know what they say “A picture says a thousand words” but pictures for something like this couldn’t tell the half of it. This was something you had to see for yourself in order to feel the gravity of the situation. I’ve been up pretty much since 1am and still can’t believe what has taken place. To hear the people that actually live in this community talk about the power and fierceness of the raging waters was surreal. Through it all we are all blessed because no one was hurt but most importantly we still had our Joy. Don’t get me wrong it was a difficult site to behold. I could not even hold back the tears as I beheld the church I grew up in left in shambles by “water”. I was glad to see that the community finally got the media coverage it needed. Newscasters from Ch. 3, 6, 10, and 29 were there to witness and document what had happened. This type of stuff has been happening for decades but not to this magnitude. We have tried complaining and pleading with city officials to provide some relief for this flood prone area but to no avail. With the amount of devastation we had something to really show and this finally brought out some of the city officials to see for themselves what has been going on and the effects of not doing anything about it in the past. Through it all I believe God will leave everyone better off than we started. We currently don’t have a place to worship but we believe God will provide as he has always done in the past. One poignant thing that stood out to me was a conversation I had with one of the church missionaries as we took in the scene. I told her that the church building maybe gone but the CHURCH is still standing. We the people are the church of God and we will continue to lift up the name of Christ despite the situation. The Church of God is still marching on. We still solicit your prayers not just for us but the neighbors that live and worship in the same neighborhood as our church. They really could use the prayers of the saints. We know that as the scripture says “…the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” James 5:16
Be Blessed!
